The Iris Nebula is also known as NGC 7023 and Caldwell 4. A bright reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus. NGC 7023 is actually the cluster within the nebula LBN 487. It lies 1,300 light-years away and is six light-years across.

No more shots of the Veil from me I promise (not this year anyhow), I ended up shooting another 4 hours but the stars made it increasingly difficult to process. Time to move on.

This is my first try at shooting the Iris and I shot this on thursday night, total 3 hours and 40 minutes under less than average sky conditions. This is work in progress, I hope to add more photons soon weather prevailing.

Thanks for looking.
